Municipal Law

We represent a large number of municipalities including towns, villages and cities as well as individual applicants to all municipal boards. Our Municipal Law practice is headed by Jeffrey L. Turner, who serves as general and special counsel to public entities and individual applicants and regularly provides legal counsel at Board of Supervisor, Board of Trustee, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and Architectural and Preservation Review Board meetings. Our Team assists its municipal and private clients with the many and varied issues that arise in today's challenging municipal environment.

Issues that often arise are:
  • Drafting, interpretation, and enforcement of ordinances
  • Zoning Board Appeals
  • Site Plan Review
  • Architectural Preservation
  • Construction projects
  • Employee relations
  • Real estate purchases or sales
  • Economic development
  • Contract negotiations
  • Land use and zoning issues, including enforcement and appeals
  • Code enforcement
  • Comprehensive plan updates and amendments
We also represent various municipal corporations with regard to employer-employee relationships including negotiation of contracts with employees or unions.
